How To Take Care Of Your Skin During Quarantine

Starting 2021 in quarantine is not fun.  Particularly when the weather is warm and the beach is so enticing in Australia, but with the Covid-19 pandemic continuing it’s becoming something that we need to get creative with.

With masks mandated all over the world and scanning QR codes to check in to places becoming the norm, staying home and breaking open the board games, catching up on the latest episode of Bump on Stan or learning to master the croquembouche is starting to feel like a good idea.  Taking care of your skin can help you look and feel your best.

Don’t let those morning coronavirus updates darken your day, practice the self care you and your family deserve.  Taking care of your skin during quarantine is one of life’s little luxuries and rituals that you can enjoy at home.

5 ways you can take care of your skin during quarantine

 1. Cleanse and Calm

During quarantine, with all that time on your hands, you’ll be able to take that relaxing bath you never have time for.  Bring your book or listen to your favourite podcast while you cleanse and relax.  Be kind to yourself and take care of your skin during quarantine with relaxing baths and showers.

You can even create your own calm and relaxing aromatherapy bath oil with four easy ingredients – Sandalwood, Lavender, Cedarwood and Jojoba oil.

Mix 30 drops of Sandalwood essential oil with 12 drops of Lavender essential oil and 2 drops of Cedarwood essential oil with 125mls of jojoba oil in a dark glass or PET bottle.

Add a tablespoon of this relaxing aromatherapy oil mixture into your bath and soak away the stress and anxiety.  Take a few deep breaths of the deep floral/woodsy scent and feel yourself relax.

While you relax, the sandalwood is rejuvenating dry skin and good for eczema and psoriasis.

Self Care Bath

If you don’t have time for a relaxing aromatherapy bath, don’t worry, you can also use this oil mixture as a massage oil to help you relax.

Or if you don’t have time to create your own relaxing aromatherapy bath or massage oil, after your shower or bath, you can use Kadee Botanicals Body Lotion, made with Jojoba Oil, Macadamia Oil and Lavender Oil, to moisturising and rehydrate your skin while the calming scent helps you relax.

In this new world of constant hand washing and sanitizing, the skin on your hands may dry out and cracks my start to appear.  This is where the calming ingredients of the Kadee Botanicals Body Lotion shines.

 2. Exfoliate and shed 2020

With 2020 behind us, time to shed the dry skin holding us back.  Using an exfoliating mask on your skin can make you feel brand new.  And after that morning coffee, what’s better than reusing the coffee beans from your pods then in a mask that can reduce inflammation, redness and under eye circles.  Pair your used ground coffee beans with cocoa powder and you’ll give your skin that boost of antioxidants to protect from free radicals and fight acne. What’s not to love?

To take care of your skin during quarantine, you only need five ingredients to create a simple face mask.

Mix half a cup of used coffee grounds with half a cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to create a dry mix.  Then add 1 cup of milk (almond or oat milk will work as well) and mix to create a paste.  While the coffee grounds and cocoa powder will help with reducing inflammation and redness, the milk will help with hydration.

If you have dry skin, add a tablespoon of olive or almond oil.

If you have oily skin and want to combat acne, add a tablespoon of lemon juice.  The lemon juice will help lighten, brighten and tighten your skin while regulating oil production.

Finally for the antimicrobial and antioxidant boost to help combat acne prone skin and lock in moisture, add a tablespoon of honey.

Mix into a paste and apply to your face, then let it dry for up to 20 minutes before rinsing.

This home made facial mask is a fun way to take care of your skin during quarantine.

Exfoliating will also allow the vitamins in Kadee Botanicals Hydrating Day & Night Cream to be absorbed deep into your skin to hydrate, repair and support your skins natural production of collagen, slowing down the effects of aging.  Piera found the nutrients in Kadee Botanicals Hydrating Day & Night Cream transform her skin.  Her adult acne, fine lines and dehydration were gone and her skin glowed.

 3. Hydrate inside and out

Making sure you drink enough water during lockdown cannot be understated.  Drinking water will help plump up those fine lines, minimise wrinkles and flush out toxins from every cell of your body, including your skin.  Hydrating from the inside is one of the most important ways to take care of your skin during quarantine.

With 50% to 80% of the human body made up of water, water is a critical element in all the body’s chemical processes like digestion, to absorb nutrients, to remove waste and regulate body temperature.  If your body doesn’t get enough water, these processes won’t function as well leading to dehydration, kidney stones, problems with heart valves and some kinds of cancer.  Minor dehydration my even impact mental and physical performance.

Choosing to switch soft drinks and alcohol for water will be better for you when taking care of your skin during quarantine.

Water And Your Health

Once you have made drinking 8 to 10 cups of water part of your daily routine, it’s time to consider topical applications of hydration for your skin.

Kadee Botanicals Hydrating Day & Night Cream is made with the highest source of Vitamin C, Kakadu Plum, that can help fade those dark spots and plump fine lines and wrinkles. Paired with Kadee Botanicals Eye Cream your skin will feel hydrated and protected from moisture loss.  Use Kadee Botanicals Hydrating Day & Night Cream along your face and down towards your neck then switch to Kadee Botanicals Body Lotion to hydrate and protect the skin on the rest of your body from moisture loss, particularly the harder skin around joints, elbows and knees.

 4. Massage your face and body

Once you’ve cleansed, exfoliated and hydrated your skin, it’s time for a well earned massage.  With all that time during lockdown, taking care of your skin is easy when you use a Jade Facial Massage roller and Gua Sha, scraper.  These tools can not only be used on your face to help absorb the potent actives in your skincare, but also on your arms, legs and rest of your body to smooth out tension and banish aches.

Jade stone is renowned for being used by Chinese Empresses who were revered for their glowing skin.  The Jade facial massage roller helps to boost circulation and blood flow, promote collagen production, reduce fine lines, boost skin elasticity, help with lymphatic drainage and removing toxins and reduce the appearance of puffy skin, under eye circles and pore size.  And when it’s used cold, straight from the fridge, on a hot summer day in quarantine, it’s a more effective refreshing massage.  Best used with Kadee Botanicals Hydrating Day & Night Cream and Kadee Botanicals Eye Cream to ensure the nutrients in the creams are fully absorbed in your skin.

The Gua Sha, or skin scraper, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine to alleviate body pain and inflammation. Applying massage oil or Kadee Botanicals Body Lotion is essential before using the Gua Sha.  You can use the Gua Sha during a massage on your back, legs, buttocks, arms and neck.  According to traditional Chinese medicine, its purpose is to keep the chi (a person's energy) from flowing freely to achieve balance and guarantee health and well-being. A blocked chi causes pain or tension in the muscles and joints. This treatment aims to break the stagnant energy and keep it flowing - reducing soreness, stiffness, and therefore promote healing (blood circulation).
